Simulation of Implanted Medical Devices

 

 

This webinar will discuss the simulation challenges and solutions for designing small implanted devices in the context of a geometrically complex electrically large environment – the body. The correct definition of complex dielectric and thermal material properties, and a suitable choice of numerical method and high performance computing options is critical for obtaining accurate results in as short a time as possible. In addition, the visualization of field results and generation of relevant results in post-processing are important for the engineer to understand and improve the device being designed.
 
 
PRESENTER: Dr Yuji Tanabe received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Seikei University in Japan in 2001 and 2003, and his PhD from Waseda University in 2011. He completed postdoctoral training at Stanford University in 2014, and he is currently an engineering research associate at Stanford University. He is also working for AET, Inc. as engineer since 2003. His current research interests include design, development of antennas for medical applications.
 
 
PRESENTER: Dr. Tilmann Wittig was born in Leverkusen, Germany, in 1972. He holds a Dipl.-Ing. degree in telecommunications and a Ph.D. in electromagnetic simulation technology from the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany. In 2004 he joined CST, where he works as a Principal Engineer in the areas of antenna and bio-medical simulations as well as computational dosimetry.
